Welcome to my favourite balsamic bruschetta recipe! This recipe was something I sook out soon after my first time trying balsamic bruschetta a few years ago. The vibrant mix of sweet, tangy balsamic glaze with juicy, ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and crispy toasted bread felt like a little slice of heaven. Naturally, I had to recreate it at home because one serving just wasn’t enough!
First Let's Start With The Ingredients
Now The Instructions
Make the tomato topping: In a medium mixing bowl, add tomatoes, red onion, garlic, basil, olive oil and salt and pepper. Mix gently to combine and place in the refrigerator for one hour (you don't have to wait this long, but letting the mixture sit will help bring out the flavours).
Make the balsamic glaze: In a small cooking pot or shallow saucepan, bring the balsamic vinegar to a boil over medium heat. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes until the sauce is reduced by half. Pour the glaze into a small bowl and set aside to cool. The glaze will continue to thicken once it is removed from heat.
Toast the bread: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small mixing bowl, combine olive oil and garlic powder. Brush the top side of each of the baguette slices with the olive oil mixture. Place the slices onto a large half-sheet baking tray and toast for 10 minutes, until light golden brown.
Assemble the bruschetta: Top each toasted slice with a spoonful of the tomato mixture. Drizzle the balsamic glaze on top and serve.
What's New and Exciting!

A recent article from MasterClass dives deep into the history and the versatility of the beloved appetizer balsamic bruschetta. I love this article because it showcases more than just a simple appetizer, it emphasizes the versatility of the dish. Bruschetta, as the article explains has evolved to incorporate ingredients like tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, which reflect its New World influences on the Italian classic. This today is known as a delightful combination of toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. This article mentions some unique and creative ways to customize the dish with different toppings such as cheeses, roasted vegetables, or even fruits like figs. Which I love, it's great for those looking to explore new variations or perfect the classic preparation. “The success of any bruschetta lies in the quality of the ingredients” and I couldn't agree more with Masterclass
